Sunset Ranch Wedding

This past weekend Kristen and Steve said their "I Do's" at Sunset Ranch in Kelowna.  I was lucky enough to be a part of their big day by creating this cupcake tower with 6 inch cutting cake.  The bride chose white chocolate cupcakes and cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.  The cupcakes were decorated with fondant flowers airbrush in royal blue and dragees.  She and her guests were very happy!  Congratulations Kristen and Steve!

Ava's 7th Birthday

My daughter turned 7 today (I can't believe my little girl is growing up!) and I let her pick out any cake she wanted.  She decided on a Rock Star theme and I was lucky enough to find some great ribbon at Michael's to fit the theme.  I was fairly happy with the cake but more importantly she loved it!  Along with my son and a few of her close friends we went mini golfing and to Boston Pizza for dinner.  All in all it was a great celebration.  Happy Birthday Sweetheart!

Baby Shower Cake

I received a last minute order for a baby shower cake for a new baby girl named Lucy.  This is what I came up with!  My client wanted pink, purple and green polka dots and the babies name and birthdate incorporated some how.  The cake is chocolate with mango buttercream.  I hope you like it!

Banana Banana Bread

I am always on the lookout for delicious, easy recipes that can work great for kids lunches or a quick snack.  This is a recipe for banana loaf that I decided to make into muffins instead, this makes it much more convenient for a grab and go snack.  I wanted to keep it on the lighter side but I think it would be delicious if a handful of chopped walnuts were added or a cup of chocolate chips.  Because honestly who doesn't love chocolate!

Easy Chocolate Crackled Cookies

These are super easy to make and even better to eat!  I do suggest that you refrigerate the batter for about 30 minutes before trying to roll into balls.  This will make it much easier to handle and a little bit less of a mess.  Enjoy!

Grilled Tilapia with Mango Salsa

Not only do I love to bake and design cakes but I love to cook as well.  When I first moved to Kelowna I took the Culinary Arts program at the local college.  It was a really great program and I learned a lot but best of all  I also met my husband there!  What I realized soon after graduation was that I am more suited to cooking for my friends and family than I am in a restaurant setting.  Since I have been eating so many cakes lately (I love to taste test!) I am trying to cook lighter and healthier meals for my family.  The other night I tried out a new recipe I found on my favourite site called Allrecipes.com.
I used only about 1/3 of the jalapeno that the recipe called for and it was still too spicy for my kids but my husband and I thought it was delicious.  Enjoy!

Firefighter Cake

This was for a great friend who just became a firefighter and was celebrating a birthday.  The cake is 2 layers each (10 and 8 inch) of white almond sour cream cake with Amaretto buttercream.   I think he liked it!
